Library Vision and Mission

VISION:-Our vision is to see this Library on par with reputed libraries as a seminary and repository of library resources and services.

MISSION: The mission of library is to support SSITS college of engineering to become global leader in the fields of engineering and management technology,

to create a knowledge hub and to enable access to information and effective innovative services to the user community.

SSITS LIBRARY SERVICES

The SSITS Central Library is located in the “Main Block” of the campus. It epitomizes the spirit and strength of the institute and offers an excellent opportunity to transform the academic environment of the College campus as a provider of information and a facilitator to learning. It has a rich collection of reference books, textbooks and research journals in both electronic as well as in print formats encompassing the field of engineering and management. Continuous updation using Information Technology or titles procured is incorporated to improve the quality and efficiency of the services that the library provides.

The Library is equipped with Circulation section, Reading Hall, Digital Library, Reference Hall and Newspaper Section. The entire Library is under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. Library automation is done by Webprose E-Cap   Library Management Software. 

Borrowing of General Books:

Each Student borrows 06 books for a time duration of 30 days. Books will be issued to the members only on producing the Identity Card. More than one renewal will not be allowed for Books.

 

Extended Library Hours:

The Library serves the College community keeping open throughout the year on working days to facilitate the students. Library working hours are from 9.00 A.M to 6.00 P.M for the benefit of students.

RULES & REGULATIONS

  1. Strict and absolute silence shall be observed in the Library.
  2. Mobile Phones to be switched off inside the Library.
  3. Student Bags, Handbags, Raincoat and Jerkin are strictly prohibited inside the library.
  4. Users are requested to keep their belongings in the space provided for their belongings at the entrance of the Library.
  5. Books will be issued to the members only on producing the Identity card. Identity Cards are not transferable.
  6. If any book is lost or damaged beyond repair, the person responsible shall replace it with a new copy or pay double of the cost of the recent price and handling charges or as may be decided by the competent authority.
  7. Any kind of marking, underlining, clipping of books is absolutely forbidden.
  8. Reference books, Magazines, Journals are not for issue. They are for library reading only.
  9. New arrivals list will be displayed on Library OPAC.
  10. Eatables and drinks are not allowed in the library.
  11. Sleeping is strictly prohibited in the library.
  12. The Library may accept the donation of manuscripts, books, periodicals etc. from the donors. Such donations once accepted will become the absolute property of the College.
  13. The books should be returned in on or before the due date else fine will be incurred for each day of delay as the student can borrow the books for the period of 30 days

  • To provide access to reading and research materials in print and digital formats 
  • To provide a space that is conducive to learning 
  • To encourage students to read and learn new things 
  • To provide guidance to students in all aspects of their lives
  • To create an atmosphere where in students and faculty may on the learning process enjoyable.

Library DO’S and DONT’S

DO’S

1.Every one should maintain silence inside the library.

2.Utilize library with the college ID provided with barcode for book transaction .

3.For searching the book use the library OPAC  (on public access catalogue ).

4.Check the status of the books before borrowing .

5.The issued book should be returned in good condition.

6. Books should be returned within the due date mentioned on the due date slip        of the book

7. Damaged book and torn pages if any the books need to be bound properly and return the same to the library.

8.In case lose of a book then the borrower should be replace with the new book to library within the due date.

DONT’S

1.Students should not bring mobile phones to the library .

2.All the personal belonging are to be kept at racks provided outside to the library.

3.Student should not use pens/pencils /highlighter etc. for making in the books.

4.Tearing the pages in the books are strictly prohibited.

DIGITAL LIBRARY RULES & REGULATIONS:

  1. Digital Library is to be used for academic purpose only.
  2. Browsing of social networking sites and Online Chatting is strictly prohibited. Strict disciplinary action will be taken against the defaulters.
  3. Changing the settings and display of the Computers kept in the Library is not permitted.
  4. Playing games on computers is strictly prohibited in the entire Library premises.
  5. Pen drives, CD/DVD ROMs, Cell Phones are not allowed to be used in the Digital Library.

Constitution of Library Committee for the AY 2024-25

The Library Committee has been constituted to look after the welfare, enrichment, digitization, and modernization of the Technical Information Centre. The committee will also look into the upkeep, quality & quantum of Technical & Management books, Journals, e-resources & project reports available in the library and their easy accessibility issue and return to the faculty members and the students. The committee will also give suggestions from time to time to improve the overall infrastructure, ambience and discipline in the library. Moreover, the categorization of books and cataloguing will be monitored so as to ensure availability of subject specific material for the students of various disciplines.
